Could Fibromyalgia Be Causing Your Pain?
Fibromyalgia is an arthritis related disease that’s often difficult to diagnose because it’s so often mistaken for arthritis. There are over 100 forms of arthritis, and any one of them can reflect the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Sufferers of both generally describe pain as their primary symptom. Unlike arthritis, however, the pain is not localized in a specific joint or muscle; it’s widespread, throbbing, sharp and deep. While the pain is widespread, many fibromyalgia patients also report “tender spots” where pain is felt more sharply if the area is pressed. Doctors have narrowed down the number of tender points to 18 specific locations. Under these circumstances, it’s easy to understand why fibromyalgia is so difficult to diagnose. Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes, also commonly known as Juvenile Diabetes due to the fact that it most commonly strikes when a person is a child or an adolescent, occurs when the pancreas’ beta cells produce little to no insulin. Those under 30, adults and senior citizens also run the risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that permits the sugar glucose to enter cells of the body. When a cell receives glucose, it uses it as fuel. When a person has a decreased level of insulin, the glucose that’s supposed to be converted to fuel for the body’s cells instead begins to build up in the bloodstream. The resulting blood circulation problems can result in kidney damage, loss of eyesight, the need to amputate limbs, even heart failure. After having … Read entire article »

Retinal Surgery
Retinal surgery involves the repair of a detached retina. The retina transmits signals or messages to the optic nerve and the brain or nervous system, thus completing the cycle of vision. Retinal detachment occurs when a separation takes place between the retina and the surface of the eye. Retinal surgery repairs this separation. Retinal detachments take place as a result of holes or tears in the tissue. This generally occurs in the near-sighted or the elderly since the tissue of the eye tends to become weaker as time progresses. The weakness leads to a retinal tear, which eventually leads to the detachment of the retina. The retina then literally tears away from the surface of the eye, causing vision loss and eventually total blindness. There are several different … Read entire article »
