The Secret Life of Diabetes II
Diabetes II is a growing epidemic in this country. Most often an insatiable thirst, accompanied by significant fatigue and a need to constantly urinate, are the symptoms that eventually bring diabetes sufferers to a physician. But by the time they reach this stage in the disease, their diabetes may have gone undiagnosed for as long as five years.
This is the secret life of Diabetes II.
It hides in the shadows of your body. You feel fine. You experience few, if any, obvious symptoms. It’s almost as if it’s benign and doesn’t really require your attention.
But it’s there.
Whether or not you choose to acknowledge it.
And this is its insidious nature.
After you’ve been diagnosed with Diabetes II and you get your blood sugars under control, it’s easy to let your guard down. You feel better. Stronger. More energetic. So what if you have an extra slice of pie? What harms could that do? So what if you start to slack off tracking your sugar levels? A high reading once in awhile isn’t going to kill you.
And gradually you become a little less diligent.
And you still feel fine.
No harm done.
Except your Diabetes II is secretly messing with your blood circulation, particularly in your hands and feet, making your extremeties highly susceptible to infection. Except it’s secretly messing with your eyes and your kidneys by flooding your blood vessels with a build of glucose. Except it’s secretly messing with your heart and putting you in danger of a stroke.
Don’t let your Diabetes II fool you into thinking it doesn’t need your attention. It’s there. Inside you. Living its secret life. Waiting for all the other little matters of life to distract you, so it can do its worst damage in complete secrecy.
Don’t let it get away with it!
